Hi. I grew up in Freeland, Michigan, on the banks of the Tittabawassee River. For 38 years I taught college English at Henry Ford College, five of those years as an adjunct instructor. I’m a husband, father, and grandfather. If you’ve read my blog, you know my wife and I spend a lot of time in Italy, in the Republic of San Marino, where she is from. We also log a lot of miles between Michigan and California, where one of our kids lives. In almost 50 years of marriage I’ve become Italianized, learned the language, the food and cooking, the culture and many wonderful places over there. But I remain a small-town guy from the Midwest, which shows up everywhere in my writing.
